COVID-19 has caused panic, frustration and grief in our communities, and there is a high rate of domestic violence in black communities.
Research shows that women and children are victims of domestic violence and they are at a higher risk of experiencing different mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse and even the thoughts of suicide. This is not limited to women and children alone as men also are going through deppression stemming from the direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic. This could be as a result of loss of a loved one or loss of job.
